Warming and satisfying, this porridge brings a pleasant aroma to the house and fills with comfort. So good for these winter mornings!
We love having porridge for breakfast, especially in the winter. It warms us up and satisfies for a long time. When it comes to porridge, we prefer it to be not only tasty, but nutritious. Quinoa works perfectly at this point! It’s a gluten-free, whole-grain carbohydrate, as well as a whole protein, so it contains all nine essential amino acids! Winner!
We’ve been obsessed with an apple and cinnamon combo lately, so we came up with this recipe very organically. All the best things in one bowl. Yes!
Ingredients
100 g of quinoa
200 ml coconut or almond milk
200 ml of water
1 apple + some for topping
raisins (as much as you like)
maple syrup
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Step 1
Grate the apple.
Step 2
Rinse your quinoa with boiling hot water, then place in a pot and cover with water. Add coconut milk (or you can substitute for almond milk) and all the remaining ingredients, and let it boil over medium heat for about 10 minutes or until cooked. If you want to add some healthy fats to your cereal, use cold-pressed coconut oil or a spoonful of ghee. When quinoa is ready, turn off the heat.
Step 3
Serve with apple slices and maple syrup. Sprinkle with cinnamon for more flavour.
